From Theme settings > Search you can enable or disable the store's search functionality. When enabled Search is found in the store Header. Clicking the Search function a drawer for the search input is presented. You can add custom search recommendations to this drawer.
To take full advantage of the search it is highly recommended that you install the Shopify's Search & Discovery APP from the Shopify APP store. It is a free APP developed by Shopify that provides good base search functionalities.
You can also opt in to any 3rd party search APPs, but those are not natively supported in the theme code and may require theme code customization.
Search recommendations
With the Taiga themes Search recommendations feature you are able to show quick links in the opened search drawer as default.
Create a menu that has all the desired links and set this menu as the recommendations list in Theme Settings -> Search. Once set, when your customers open the search from the header, they will see these recommendations before using the search entry field:
Now your customers have two options:
1) Click on a recommended keyword
2) Input their own search into the entry field
If your customers choose to proceed with option 1, clicking a recommended keyword, they will be taken to search page with that keyword inputted. See example below:
